Ecommerce marketing
Ecommerce digital marketing agency for profitable growth
Shopping ads, ecommerce SEO, email flows, paid social and conversion work for online shops, reported on profit after product and ad costs, not revenue alone.
- Reporting on margin, not revenue
- Shopping, SEO, email, social
- Store builds in-house
Quick answer
ProntX is an ecommerce digital marketing agency for UK online shops on Shopify and WooCommerce. We run Google Shopping and Performance Max, ecommerce SEO, Klaviyo email flows, paid social and conversion rate optimisation, and report on margin rather than revenue. PPC management starts from £450 a month plus ad spend, on rolling monthly terms.
Overview
What should you expect from an ecommerce digital marketing agency?
More profitable orders, not just more revenue. That means running Shopping, SEO, email and social as one system and judging all of it on the margin left after costs.
Plenty of online shops grow revenue and lose money doing it. Ad platforms report return on ad spend, but they do not know your product costs, shipping or returns. ProntX works as an ecommerce digital marketing agency that starts from your margins and works backwards, so every campaign, email and page change is judged on whether it adds profit.
Ecommerce digital marketing has more moving parts than lead generation. Your product feed affects your ads, your site speed affects your conversion rate, and your email flows decide whether a first order becomes a fifth. When separate suppliers own each part, nobody sees how a feed error or a slow checkout is dragging down every channel at once.
We build and market stores in the same team. The people running your Shopping campaigns can fix the product page template, and the person writing your email flows can see which products bring repeat buyers. Brands we have built for include Vanity Girl Hollywood, Monica The Label and Soulful Skin Food, so we know both sides of the work.
Channels
Which ecommerce digital marketing services do we run?
Five channels, chosen and weighted according to your products, margins and stage of growth. Few stores need all five at full budget from day one.
Paid search
Shopping and Performance Max
Merchant Center feed optimisation, product groups split by margin and performance, search term control and brand protection. Campaign type is chosen per product group, not by habit.
Organic search
Ecommerce SEO
Category page content, faceted navigation that does not create thousands of thin URLs, product schema, internal linking and buying guides that answer questions shoppers ask AI assistants.
Retention
Email and SMS flows
Welcome, abandoned checkout, browse abandonment, post-purchase, replenishment and winback flows, plus a campaign calendar built around launches and seasonal peaks.
Paid social
Meta and TikTok ads
Prospecting and retargeting with structured creative testing, catalogue ads and server-side tracking so the platforms can optimise on real purchases.
On-site
Conversion rate optimisation
Product page layout, delivery and returns messaging, checkout friction, mobile speed and search on site. Small gains here lift every other channel at once.
Measurement
Tracking you can trust
GA4 ecommerce events, enhanced conversions, Meta’s conversions API and consent mode set up correctly, so the numbers we optimise against are accurate.
Margin-based reporting
Why do we report on margin instead of ROAS?
Because return on ad spend ignores what your products cost. A campaign with a high ROAS on low-margin items can lose money, while a lower ROAS on high-margin items can be your most profitable activity.
The break-even test
Your break-even ROAS is one divided by your margin after product, shipping and payment costs. A product with a 40% margin needs a ROAS of 2.5 just to cover its own ad cost. A product with a 25% margin needs 4. Treating them with the same target either overspends on one or starves the other.
We calculate break-even points by product group, then set bidding targets and budgets so each group earns more than it costs.
What our reports show
- Contribution profit by channel and campaign after ad spend
- New customer revenue versus returning customer revenue
- Product groups ranked by profit, not sales
- Email revenue split by automated flows and campaigns
- Blended cost per acquisition across all paid channels
Strategy by stage
What is the right ecommerce digital marketing strategy for your store?
It depends on where you are. A new store needs data and a working funnel; an established store needs efficiency and repeat purchases.
| Stage | Main priorities | Channels we would lead with |
|---|---|---|
| New store | Accurate tracking, a clean feed, first sales data, email capture | Standard Shopping on bestsellers, welcome and abandoned checkout flows |
| Growing store | Finding profitable new customers, building organic category traffic | Shopping and Performance Max by margin group, paid social prospecting, ecommerce SEO |
| Established store | Lower acquisition cost, higher repeat rate, better conversion | Full email lifecycle, CRO testing, SEO content, tighter brand and non-brand split |
Seasonality changes the plan too. A gifting brand may earn a large share of its year between November and December, so we build email lists and test creative in the autumn, raise budgets ahead of peak and agree in advance how far margin targets can flex during sales events. A brand selling everyday consumables needs steadier spend and more focus on replenishment and subscriptions. We write the plan down, share it with you and review it every quarter against actual profit.
Conversion
How do we improve the conversion rate of your store?
By removing the reasons shoppers hesitate. We look at analytics, session recordings and checkout data, then fix the pages where most money is lost first.
- Delivery costs and dates shown before checkout
- Clear returns policy near the add to basket button
- Product photos and size guidance that answer common questions
- Express payment options such as Apple Pay and Google Pay
- Faster mobile load times on product and collection pages
- Reviews displayed where they help a decision
Because we also build stores, these changes do not sit in a recommendations document waiting for a developer. We make them, measure the result and keep the ones that work. If your platform or theme is holding you back, we can rebuild it through our ecommerce web design service from £3,950, with tracking and SEO in place from launch.
Retention
How do email flows and repeat customers fit into the plan?
They decide whether paid acquisition is affordable. If a first order barely breaks even, the second and third orders are where the profit sits, and automated email is the cheapest way to win them.
Before the first order
Capture and convert
A sign-up offer that does not train everyone to wait for discounts, a welcome series that explains why your products are worth the price, and abandoned checkout reminders timed to how long your customers usually take to decide. Browse abandonment picks up shoppers who viewed products but never added to basket.
After the first order
Bring them back
Post-purchase emails that cut returns with care and sizing advice, review requests once the product has arrived, replenishment reminders for consumables and a winback flow for customers who have gone quiet. We segment by product bought and order count, so a loyal customer is not sent the same email as a first-timer.
Email and paid media share the same customer data. Lists of repeat buyers feed lookalike audiences on Meta, and recent purchasers are excluded from prospecting so you stop paying to reach people who just bought.
Why ProntX
Why choose ProntX for ecommerce digital marketing?
One team that can build, fix and market your store, published prices for each channel, and no contract keeping you if it is not working.
Build and grow
Developers in the same team
Theme changes, tracking fixes and landing pages are done by people who also see your ad data, so fixes ship in days, not after a ticket queue at another agency.
Ownership
Your accounts and data
Merchant Center, Google Ads, Meta, Klaviyo and GA4 stay in your name. Ad spend is billed by the platform to your card, never marked up.
AI shopping
Ready for AI assistants
Shoppers increasingly ask ChatGPT and Google AI Mode for product suggestions. Clean product data, schema and helpful buying guides make your products easier for those systems to recommend.

FAQ
Ecommerce digital marketing questions, answered
Still unsure? Ask us anything. We reply within one working day.
What does an ecommerce digital marketing agency do?
An ecommerce digital marketing agency brings shoppers to your store and turns them into repeat customers. That usually means Google Shopping and Performance Max, SEO for category and product pages, email and SMS flows, paid social ads and conversion improvements on the site itself. A good agency ties all of this to profit, so you know which products and channels actually make money.
What is margin-based reporting?
Margin-based reporting judges campaigns on the profit left after product cost, shipping, payment fees and ad spend, instead of on revenue. Two campaigns with the same return on ad spend can have very different profit if one sells low-margin products. We feed margin data into reporting and, where possible, into bidding, so budget moves towards the products that pay.
Should my store run Performance Max or standard Shopping?
Often both. Performance Max can scale well once conversion data is strong, but it reports less detail and can drift into branded searches. Standard Shopping gives tighter control over product groups and search terms. We usually split products by margin and performance, and decide campaign type per group rather than following one rule for the whole catalogue.
Which email flows should every online shop have?
At minimum: a welcome series for new subscribers, abandoned checkout and abandoned cart reminders, browse abandonment, a post-purchase series, and a winback flow for lapsed customers. Shops selling consumables also benefit from replenishment reminders. Flows run automatically and often bring in a meaningful share of email revenue once they are set up and tested properly.
Do you work with Shopify and WooCommerce?
Yes. Most of our ecommerce clients run on Shopify or WooCommerce, and we build stores on both through our ecommerce web design service. We are comfortable with Merchant Center feeds, GA4 ecommerce tracking, Klaviyo, Meta's conversions API and the apps and plugins that connect them. If you run another platform, ask us.
How much ad spend does an ecommerce store need?
It depends on your average order value, margin and how competitive your products are. As a rough guide, Shopping campaigns need enough budget to collect regular conversions every week, or the bidding systems cannot learn. We work out a sensible starting budget from your margins in the free audit, and ad spend is always paid direct to Google or Meta.
How quickly will we see results?
Shopping and paid social campaigns can produce sales within days, though bidding usually needs a few weeks to settle. Email flows start earning as soon as they go live. Ecommerce SEO is slower: category pages typically take three to six months to climb, depending on competition and the state of your site. We report progress monthly.
Can you fix our product feed?
Yes. Feed quality has a direct effect on Shopping performance. We fix disapproved products, rewrite titles to match how people search, add missing attributes such as GTINs, colour and size, and use custom labels to group products by margin, season or bestseller status. Feed work is included in ecommerce PPC management.
