Free PPC audit

What is a PPC audit and what will ours tell you?

A PPC audit is an independent review of your ad account that shows where money is being wasted, whether your tracking can be trusted, and what to fix first.

Our free PPC audit is a recorded video walkthrough of your Google Ads or Microsoft Advertising account, delivered within 48 hours. A senior ProntX specialist reviews wasted spend, search terms, tracking, structure, bidding, feeds and landing pages, then explains the fixes in plain English.

Most businesses only find out their account has problems when results drop. By then, months of budget may have gone on irrelevant searches, duplicate conversions or campaigns competing against each other. A PPC account audit catches those issues while they are still cheap to fix.

We record the audit as a video rather than sending a 40-page PDF because it is clearer. You see your own account on screen, with the problem highlighted and the reason it matters explained, and you can watch it again with your team or your current agency.

There is no catch. Audits are how we prefer to start, and we would rather earn your business by showing you something useful than by sending a sales deck. If the account is in good shape, we will say so.

You are free to take the findings and fix them yourself, hand them to your existing agency, or ask us for help. There is no obligation and no follow-up sequence of pushy emails.

What we check

What does our PPC audit service cover?

We check seven areas in every account. Each one is a common source of wasted spend or misleading results.

01

Wasted spend

Campaigns, keywords, products and placements that have spent money over the last 90 days without producing conversions, and how much budget could be redirected.

02

Search terms

The real searches your ads appeared for. We look for job seekers, free and DIY searches, competitor names, irrelevant locations and missing negative keyword lists.

03

Conversion tracking

Whether conversions fire once and only once, whether primary goals are set correctly, if enhanced conversions and Consent Mode v2 are in place, and whether revenue matches your real orders.

04

Account structure

Brand and non-brand separation, overlapping campaigns, thin ad groups, match type choices, location settings and whether Search partners or Display are quietly switched on.

05

Bidding strategy

Whether your bidding strategy suits your conversion volume, if targets are realistic, how budget-limited campaigns are, and whether auto-applied recommendations have changed things without you knowing.

06

Shopping feeds

For online shops: Merchant Center disapprovals, product titles, missing attributes, custom labels and how Performance Max is splitting spend between products, brand and Display.

07

Landing pages

Message match between ads and pages, mobile load speed, form length, calls to action and trust signals. A page that does not convert makes every click more expensive.

Bonus

Ad copy and assets

Responsive search ad strength, duplicate headlines, missing sitelinks, callouts, call and image assets, and whether your offer is clear enough to win the click.

Bonus

Competitor view

Auction insights showing who you compete against most often, where you are losing impression share and whether that is a budget or quality problem.

What you get

What is in the PPC audit report?

You get a narrated video walkthrough of your own account, plus a short written summary of the priority fixes so you can act on it straight away.

  • A screen-recorded walkthrough of your own account, narrated by the specialist who reviewed it
  • An estimate of monthly spend going to clearly irrelevant searches and placements
  • A tracking verdict: trustworthy, partly reliable or not fit for smart bidding
  • The three changes we would make first, in order of impact
  • A one-page written summary you can forward to your team or current agency
What we do not do

We do not change anything in your account during the audit. We ask for read-only or standard access, look, record and report. You stay in full control, and you can remove our access the moment the video arrives.

The process

How do I get a PPC account audit?

Tell us about your business and goals, grant read-only access to your ad account, and the video arrives within 48 hours.

1. Tell us what good looks like

We ask a few questions first: what you sell, what a lead or sale is worth to you, your rough margin and what has frustrated you about the account so far. Without that context, an audit can only point out settings. With it, we can tell you whether the account is making you money.

2. Grant access

For Google Ads, you approve a manager link request from our account, or add us as a read-only user. We may also ask for viewer access to GA4 and, for retailers, Merchant Center. Nothing requires your password, and nothing is shared outside our team.

3. We review and record

A senior specialist works through the seven areas above, usually looking at the last 90 days with comparisons to the previous period. The findings are recorded as a walkthrough and sent to you with the written summary within 48 hours of access being granted.

4. You decide what happens next

Fix it yourself, pass it to your agency or ask us to quote for Google Ads management or ecommerce PPC. If you want to talk it through, reply to the email and we will set up a short call.

Warning signs

When should you book a PPC audit?

Book one when performance changes and nobody can explain why, before you hire or replace an agency, or if you have never had an independent check.

  • Cost per lead or ROAS has worsened for two or more months
  • Google says you have plenty of conversions, but sales do not match
  • You are paying an agency and cannot see what they change each month
  • You have switched on Performance Max and results became harder to read
  • Your account was built years ago and has grown without a plan
  • You are about to increase budget and want to fix leaks first
  • You recently changed website, checkout or cookie banner
  • You simply want a second opinion before signing a new contract

If your website itself is the bigger worry, pair this with our SEO audit or request a wider free growth audit covering search, paid and site performance together.

Judging an audit

How can you tell a useful PPC audit from a sales pitch?

A useful audit is specific to your account, explains why each issue costs you money and ranks fixes by impact. A sales pitch lists generic best practice and ends with a proposal.

Whoever carries out your PPC auditing, including us, hold the result to a simple standard. Every finding should point to something you can see in your own account: a search term, a campaign setting, a conversion action, a product. It should explain the consequence in money or lost leads, not just say a setting is “not best practice”. And it should tell you what to do first, because nobody fixes forty things at once.

That is the standard the ProntX team works to. If we cannot connect a finding to your budget or results, it does not go in the video.

  • Findings shown in your account, not screenshots from a template
  • Tracking checked before any performance numbers are trusted
  • Issues ranked by likely impact on spend or leads
  • Clear distinction between quick fixes and bigger rebuilds
  • Honest notes on what is already working well
  • Generic scores out of 100 with no explanation
  • Recommendations that simply mean “spend more”

Free versus paid

Why is the ProntX PPC audit free when others charge?

Because it is how we start relationships. Paid PPC audit services usually include implementation or deeper analysis, which we only charge for if you choose to work with us.

Some agencies charge for a PPC audit report, often including a long written document and a workshop. That can be good value for large, complex accounts. For most small and mid-sized businesses, what matters is knowing where the money is going and what to fix first, and that is what our free audit gives you.

If you then want us to fix the issues, our PPC management starts from £450 a month on a rolling plan, with no setup fee. The first month is spent on exactly the fixes the audit identified, so nothing is wasted. Either way, the audit and its findings are yours to keep.

FAQ

PPC audit questions, answered

Still unsure? Ask us anything. We reply within one working day.

Is the PPC audit really free?

Yes. There is no fee, no card details and no obligation to hire us. We offer it because it is the clearest way to show how we think about an account. If the findings are useful and you want help fixing them, we can quote for management, but many people simply use the video to brief their own team.

How long does a PPC audit take?

We deliver the video walkthrough within 48 hours of being given access to your account. Larger accounts with several platforms or very big product catalogues may need a little longer, and if so we will tell you up front. The video is kept as short as the account allows: long enough to show every important issue, without padding.

What access do you need for a PPC account audit?

For Google Ads, approve a manager link request or add us as a read-only user. Viewer access to GA4 helps us check tracking, and Merchant Center access helps for online shops. We never need your password, and you can remove our access as soon as the audit is delivered.

Will you change anything in my account?

No. The audit is observation only. We do not pause campaigns, change bids, add keywords or alter tracking. Everything we would change is explained in the video and the written summary, so you or your agency can decide what to act on.

Which platforms can you audit?

We audit Google Ads, including Search, Performance Max, Shopping, YouTube and Demand Gen, and Microsoft Advertising. We can also comment on Meta remarketing if it is part of your paid search setup. Larger paid social accounts are better reviewed by our paid social team as a separate check.

Can I share the audit with my current agency?

Of course. The video and summary are yours. Many businesses pass them to their existing agency as a checklist. A good agency will welcome a second opinion, and if they disagree with a finding, we are happy to explain our reasoning.

What happens after the PPC audit?

Nothing, unless you ask. You can fix the issues yourself, hand them over, or ask us to quote. Our PPC management starts from £450 a month on a rolling plan, and the first month focuses on the audit's priority fixes so nothing is wasted.

Do you audit accounts with small budgets?

Yes. Small accounts often benefit most, because every wasted pound matters more. Even an account spending a few hundred pounds a month can have tracking or targeting issues that make results look worse than they are. We will also tell you honestly if PPC is unlikely to pay at your budget level.
