Technical SEO services
Technical SEO agency that fixes, not just reports
Crawl, indexation, Core Web Vitals, JavaScript rendering, migrations and schema. We diagnose from your real data, then our own developers ship the fixes.
- Developers fix what we find
- Log files, not just tools
- Migration-safe launch plans
Quick answer
ProntX is a London technical SEO agency for UK businesses whose websites are not being crawled, indexed or loaded properly. We cover crawl budget, indexation, Core Web Vitals, JavaScript rendering, migrations, schema and log files, and our developers implement the fixes. Technical SEO is included in plans from £595 a month.
ProntX is a technical SEO agency that finds and fixes the problems stopping search engines and AI crawlers from reading your website properly. Crawl waste, pages left out of the index, slow templates, JavaScript that hides content, broken migrations and messy structured data: we diagnose them from your own data, then our developers fix them.
When you need technical SEO services
You have published good content but it is not being indexed. Traffic dropped after a redesign, a platform change or a domain move. Search Console is full of “Crawled, currently not indexed” warnings. Your site is built in React or Vue and Google only sees half the page. Or your Core Web Vitals report has been red for months and nobody owns the fix.
What makes us different
Most technical SEO consultants hand over a spreadsheet of issues and leave your developers to work out what matters. We write the tickets, explain the business impact of each one, and where you want us to, our own development team implements the changes. That is the advantage of one team that both builds and grows websites.
Scope
What do our technical SEO services cover?
Seven areas, each checked against your real crawl, Search Console and server data rather than a generic tool score.
Crawl
Crawlability and crawl budget
Full site crawls, robots.txt review, internal linking depth, orphan pages, redirect chains, parameter URLs and soft 404s. On large sites we make sure Googlebot spends its time on pages that earn money.
Index
Indexation control
Canonical tags, noindex rules, XML sitemaps, duplicate and near-duplicate content, pagination and hreflang. We work through every Search Console coverage status until the index matches the pages you want found.
Speed
Core Web Vitals
Largest Contentful Paint, Interaction to Next Paint and Cumulative Layout Shift, measured from real user (field) data, not just lab tests. We fix the template-level causes: image handling, render-blocking scripts, fonts, third-party tags and hosting.
JavaScript
JavaScript rendering
For React, Next.js, Vue, Angular and headless builds we compare raw HTML with rendered HTML to see what crawlers miss. Many AI crawlers do not run JavaScript at all, so server-side rendering or pre-rendering matters more than ever.
Migrations
Site migrations and replatforming
URL mapping, redirect plans, staging checks, launch-day monitoring and post-launch recovery for redesigns, domain changes, HTTPS moves and platform switches such as WordPress to Shopify.
Schema
Structured data
JSON-LD for Organization, LocalBusiness, Service, Product, Article, FAQPage and BreadcrumbList, connected with consistent IDs and validated against rich result requirements.
The seventh area, and the one most agencies skip. Server logs show exactly which URLs Googlebot, Bingbot and AI crawlers such as GPTBot and PerplexityBot request, how often, and what response they get. It is the only way to know for certain whether crawlers are wasting time on filters, old URLs or staging copies of your site.
Method
How does a technical SEO agency prioritise fixes?
By impact and effort, not by the number of warnings a tool reports. A site can have 4,000 “issues” where three matter. Here is how we decide what goes first.
Step one: does it block revenue pages?
We start with anything stopping commercial pages from being crawled, rendered or indexed: a stray noindex, a canonical pointing to the wrong URL, a robots rule blocking product images, or a JavaScript framework that ships empty HTML. These are rare but serious, and fixing them can recover traffic quickly.
Step two: is it wasting crawl or diluting signals?
Next come duplicate URLs, faceted filters, redirect chains and thin pages that spread authority thinly. On sites with tens of thousands of URLs this is often where the biggest gains sit.
Step three: does it hurt users?
Core Web Vitals and mobile usability are ranking factors, but more importantly they affect conversion. We prioritise the templates with the most traffic and the worst field data first.
Step four: does it help machines understand you?
Schema, internal linking and clean information architecture help Google and AI tools connect your pages, brand and services. This is where technical SEO meets AI search optimisation, and where we add llms.txt and markdown versions of key pages if you want them.
Build and fix
Can you implement the fixes, or just report them?
Both. We can write precise developer tickets for your in-house team, or ProntX developers can make the changes directly on WordPress, Shopify, WooCommerce and custom builds.
A technical audit only has value once the fixes go live. In our experience the biggest delay in technical SEO is not finding problems, it is waiting months for a developer queue to clear. Because our web design and development team works alongside our SEO specialists, we can ship template changes, redirect maps and performance work in the same sprint as the audit.
- Developer tickets with acceptance criteria and test URLs
- Changes tested on staging before going live
- Version control and rollback plans for template edits
- Recrawl and Search Console validation after every release
- Your code stays yours, in your repository
Migrations
How do you protect rankings during a site migration?
With a full URL inventory, a one-to-one redirect map and monitoring before, during and after launch. Most traffic lost in migrations comes from missing redirects and changed content, both preventable.
| Stage | What we do |
|---|---|
| Before | Crawl and export every live URL, pull top pages from Search Console and analytics, record rankings and backlinks per URL, agree which pages are kept, merged or removed |
| Staging | Map every old URL to its best new equivalent, test redirects in bulk, check titles, canonicals, schema and internal links on the new templates, block staging from indexing |
| Launch day | Deploy redirects, submit new sitemaps, crawl the live site, check server logs for errors and spot-check top pages by hand |
| After | Daily monitoring for two weeks, then weekly for three months: coverage reports, 404s, ranking shifts and traffic by page group |
AI crawlers
Is your site technically ready for AI search crawlers?
Often not. AI crawlers are less forgiving than Googlebot: many skip JavaScript, some are blocked by default firewall rules, and most have far less patience for slow or broken pages.
We regularly find sites where a CDN or security plugin blocks GPTBot, ClaudeBot or PerplexityBot without anyone deciding to. Others serve AI crawlers an empty shell because the content loads client-side. Either way, the business is invisible to the tools a growing share of buyers use for research, however good the content is.
Deciding which crawlers to allow is a business choice, not just a technical one. Some publishers block training crawlers but allow search and retrieval crawlers. We explain the trade-offs and set the rules to match what you want.
- robots.txt and firewall rules reviewed for each major AI crawler
- Server logs checked to confirm which bots actually reach you
- Key content present in the raw HTML, not only after rendering
- Clean, connected schema that describes your organisation and services
- Optional llms.txt and markdown versions of priority pages
This sits alongside the broader SEO work in your plan, so technical, content and authority improvements are reported together.

Which platforms do you work on?
Most of them. Technical SEO principles are universal, but each platform has its own traps, so we bring specific experience for each.
Shopify brings duplicate collection paths and limited robots control. WordPress brings plugin bloat and tag archives. Headless builds bring rendering and routing questions. Technical SEO for SaaS sites often means separating the marketing site from the app and documentation so crawl budget goes where it should.

What is technical SEO?
Technical SEO is the work that makes a website easy for search engines and AI crawlers to access, render, understand and index. It covers site architecture, crawl control, indexation, page speed, mobile usability, JavaScript rendering, structured data and redirects. Content and links only work if these foundations are sound, which is why technical SEO usually comes first.
How is a technical SEO audit different from a general SEO audit?
A technical audit focuses on how the site is built and served: crawling, indexing, rendering, speed and code. A general SEO audit also covers content quality, keyword targeting, backlinks and competitors. Our SEO audit includes the full technical review plus those other areas, all in one prioritised action plan.
Do Core Web Vitals really affect rankings?
They are a confirmed ranking signal, but usually a tie-breaker rather than a deciding factor. Their bigger effect is on users: slow, jumpy pages lose enquiries and sales. We use real user data from Search Console and the Chrome UX Report to find the templates with the worst scores and the most traffic, and fix those first.
Can Google read my JavaScript website?
Google can render JavaScript, but it takes extra time and resources, and errors can leave content invisible. Many AI crawlers do not render JavaScript at all. We compare the raw HTML your server sends with the rendered page. If key content, links or metadata only appear after rendering, we recommend server-side rendering or pre-rendering.
Why are my pages crawled but not indexed?
Usually because Google does not see enough value in them: thin or duplicate content, weak internal links, or too many similar pages competing. Sometimes it is a technical signal such as a conflicting canonical. We check each affected page group, decide whether to improve, merge or remove the pages, and then monitor the coverage report until it clears.
How much does a technical SEO consultant cost in the UK?
At ProntX, ongoing technical SEO is included in SEO plans from £595 a month ex VAT. Large sites needing log file analysis and JavaScript work typically sit between £1,200 and £2,500 a month. Migrations and one-off audits are quoted at a fixed price after a short call, based on site size and platform.
Can you help after a migration has already gone wrong?
Yes. We compare the old URL list, recovered from analytics, Search Console, backlink tools and archived crawls, against the new site, then rebuild missing redirects and restore content that was dropped. Recovery is faster the sooner it starts, so if traffic fell after a launch, it is worth checking within weeks rather than months.
Do you analyse server log files?
Yes, for sites where crawl behaviour matters, typically ecommerce stores and large content sites. We need read access to your raw access logs, usually from your host or CDN. Logs show exactly which URLs Googlebot and AI crawlers request and what response they get, which no crawling tool can fully reproduce.
