ProntX is a web design agency London businesses hire when they want a website that brings in enquiries, not just one that looks finished. We design, write, build and launch business websites from £1,950, ecommerce stores from £3,950 and bespoke web apps on quote, and the same senior team can then run the SEO and ads that send people to it.

The problem with most new websites

Plenty of sites launch looking sharp and then sit there. The pages are slow on a phone, the copy talks about the company instead of the customer, nobody set up tracking, and the developer has gone quiet by the time Google starts to crawl it. Six months later the business is paying a marketing agency to fix the site it just paid for.

We work the other way round. Before any design starts we agree what the site is for (calls, quote requests, bookings, online sales or qualified B2B leads), which searches it needs to rank for and how each page moves a visitor towards that action.

What you get from a web design company that also does marketing

Because ProntX also runs SEO, paid ads, email and social for clients, we build sites the way marketers need them: clean URL structure, proper heading hierarchy, structured data, fast templates, conversion tracking that works on day one and landing pages your ad team can actually use.

You get one point of contact from first call to launch, a fixed quote in writing, and a site you fully own. If you want ongoing help afterwards there is an optional care plan, and if you do not, you can take the site anywhere.

Pricing

How much does a website cost from a London web design agency?

A ProntX business website starts at £1,950 and an ecommerce site at £3,950, both one-off and ex VAT. Most growing businesses land in the £3,500 to £6,000 range; the final figure depends on page count, content and integrations.

Package Price (ex VAT) Best for Typically includes
Starter site From £1,950 Sole traders, trades and new businesses Up to around 6 pages, custom design, contact and quote forms, local SEO set-up, analytics
Growth site Typically £3,500 to £6,000 Established SMEs, professional services, B2B firms 10 to 25 pages, service and location pages, blog, case studies, CRM integration, deeper copywriting

Bespoke or web app Quote Portals, booking systems, SaaS front ends Discovery sprint, UX, custom development, integrations and testing, scoped and priced in stages

This is affordable web design for London without the shortcuts. The Starter price is lower than many studios because the scope is focused, not because steps are skipped: you still get custom design, copy support, accessibility checks and SEO set-up. Every quote is fixed in writing before work starts, and we tell you up front what would change it.

Built to be found

What are SEO web design services, and why do they matter?

SEO web design means the site is planned and coded so search engines and AI assistants can understand it from launch day. It is far cheaper to build this in than to retrofit it later.

Structure

Pages mapped to searches

Each service, product category or location gets its own page with a clear purpose, rather than everything crammed onto one long services page. That gives Google something specific to rank for each search.

Speed

Core Web Vitals in mind

We test loading, responsiveness and layout stability on real mobile connections before launch. Fast pages rank more easily and lose fewer visitors to the back button.

AI search

Schema and llms.txt

Organization, Service, Product, FAQ and Breadcrumb markup, plus a plain llms.txt summary, help ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews describe your business accurately.

Already have a site that is not ranking?

Our technical SEO team can often fix a slow or poorly structured site without a full rebuild. We will tell you honestly which option is cheaper for you.

Timeline

How long does it take to build a business website?

A typical business website takes 3 to 6 weeks from kick-off to launch. Starter sites sit at the shorter end; larger Growth sites, ecommerce stores and anything with complex integrations take longer.

Week 1: discovery and content plan

We run the kick-off workshop, review your analytics and competitors, agree the sitemap and keyword targets, and send a content brief so you know exactly what we need from you.

Weeks 2 to 3: copy and design

Copy drafts and the homepage design come first, then inner page layouts. You review a clickable prototype on desktop and mobile, with two rounds of changes included.

Weeks 3 to 5: build and test

We build on a private staging site, load your content, set up forms and tracking, and test across browsers, devices, screen readers and slow connections.

Launch week: go-live and handover

Redirects, DNS, SSL and Search Console submission are handled for you. You get a recorded walkthrough of your CMS and a launch checklist showing what was done.

The single biggest cause of delay is content waiting on the client side. We keep that short with a clear brief, a shared folder and our own copywriting so you are approving words rather than writing them from scratch.

What we build

Which kind of website do you need?

Most clients need one of four things: a focused small business site, a larger lead-generation site, an online store or a custom web application. Here is how we approach each.

From £1,950

Small business websites

For trades, clinics, consultants and local firms that need to look credible and get the phone ringing. See our small business web design packages for what is included.

From £3,950

Ecommerce stores

Shopify and WooCommerce builds with product pages designed to convert and the technical basics for shopping search in place. Details on our ecommerce web design page.

Typical £3,500 to £6,000

B2B and professional services sites

As a B2B web design agency we build for longer sales cycles: case studies, sector pages, gated resources, CRM-connected forms and pages that answer procurement questions before a call.

Quote

Web apps and portals

Customer portals, booking flows and dashboards, often paired with a mobile app. Our app development team shares the same design system so web and mobile feel like one product.

Whatever the size, every site is a responsive web design build. There is no separate mobile version to maintain: the same pages adapt to phones, tablets and large screens, and we design mobile layouts first because that is where most local and B2C visitors arrive.

Sectors

Do you build websites for my industry?

Yes. We build for service businesses, retailers and B2B companies across London and the UK, and adapt structure and copy to how buyers in each sector choose.

Web design for tradesmen

Plumbers, electricians, builders and roofers need click-to-call on every screen, clear service area pages, photos of real jobs and a quote form short enough to fill in on a van seat. We link it all to your Google Business Profile. More on our trades marketing page.

Web design for plumbers and emergency services

For emergency work the page has to load quickly and show the phone number, coverage area and response promise in the first screen. We build separate pages for boilers, leaks, drainage and each area you cover.

Web design for accountants

Accountancy sites win on trust and clarity: services by client type, transparent fee guidance, team profiles and resources that answer tax questions. We build these with booking or enquiry flows tied to your CRM.

Web design for law firms

Law firm websites need practice area pages written for clients rather than other lawyers, SRA-compliant information and careful handling of enquiry data. See how we approach law firm marketing.

After launch

What happens after your website goes live?

Launch is the start of the useful part. In the first 90 days we check that the site is being crawled, that forms and tracking work, and that real visitors behave the way the design expected.

First 2 weeks

Launch checks

We monitor Search Console for crawl errors and broken redirects, confirm every form and conversion event is recording, and fix anything that slipped through testing.

First 90 days

Learn from real visitors

Analytics and session data show where people drop off. Small changes to headlines, calls to action or form length often make a bigger difference than a new design would.

Ongoing

Care plan or hand over

Choose the optional care plan for updates, backups, security and content edits, or take full control yourself. Either way you have the training and the access.

Web design and marketing in one place

A new site rarely fills itself with visitors. When you are ready, the same team can add local or national SEO, Google Ads, paid social or email, and because we built the pages we can create new landing pages and tests without a second agency in the loop.

Growing the site over time

The design system we hand over includes reusable blocks for service pages, case studies, location pages and blog posts. Adding a new service or area later is a content job, not a redesign, which keeps the site consistent as your business changes.

Why ProntX

Why choose ProntX over a typical web design company?

You get one senior team that builds the site and can grow it afterwards, published prices, and full ownership of everything we make for you.

What you can expect

  • A fixed written quote before any work starts
  • Senior designers and developers on your project, not a rotating junior team
  • You own the domain, hosting account, code, content and analytics
  • Replies within one working day throughout the project
  • An optional monthly care plan for updates, security and backups, with no obligation
  • Web design and marketing under one roof when you are ready to grow

What we avoid

  • Locking your site into our hosting or a proprietary builder
  • Page builders that bloat the code and slow the site down
  • Stock templates sold as custom design
  • Launching without redirects, tracking or a sitemap
  • Long contracts for maintenance you may not need
  • Promising specific Google rankings

ProntX has worked with more than 200 clients over six years. Many come to us for a website and later add search, ads or email, which is easier when the people running the campaigns built the pages. Not sure where to start? Our free growth audit reviews your current site and tells you whether you need a rebuild, a refresh or just better marketing.

FAQ

Web design questions, answered

Still unsure? Ask us anything. We reply within one working day.

How much does a website cost in London?

Our business websites start at £1,950 and ecommerce sites at £3,950, one-off and ex VAT. Most growing SMEs spend between £3,500 and £6,000 for a larger site with more pages, copy and integrations. Bespoke web apps are quoted after a short discovery stage. You get a fixed written quote before any work begins, so the price will not move unless you change the scope.

How long does it take to design and build a website?

A typical business website takes 3 to 6 weeks from kick-off to launch. A focused Starter site can be quicker, while ecommerce stores, sites with many pages or projects with custom integrations take longer. The biggest variable is content, which is why we provide copywriting and a clear brief so you are approving drafts rather than writing pages yourself.

Do I own my website once it is built?

Yes. You own the domain, the hosting account, the code, the design files, the content and the analytics data. We set accounts up in your name and give you admin access. If you ever want to move to another developer or host, you can take everything with you and we will help with the handover.

Will my new website be SEO friendly?

Every site launches with the technical foundations in place: logical URLs, heading structure, meta titles and descriptions, internal links, XML sitemap, schema markup, an llms.txt file and fast templates. That gives the site a fair chance to rank, but competitive rankings also need ongoing content and links. Our SEO team can take that on after launch if you want.

Which platforms do you build on?

Most business sites are built on WordPress with a custom, lightweight theme, which keeps editing simple and avoids being tied to one supplier. Online stores are usually Shopify or WooCommerce depending on your product range and budget. For portals and web apps we choose a framework that fits the job. We recommend a platform in the proposal and explain why.

Are your websites accessible?

We design and build to WCAG 2.2 AA. That covers colour contrast, keyboard navigation, visible focus states, labelled forms, alt text, sensible heading order and support for screen readers. We test before launch and include notes on keeping content accessible when your team adds new pages, because accessibility can slip as a site grows.

Do you offer website maintenance after launch?

Yes, through an optional monthly care plan covering software updates, security monitoring, backups, uptime checks and a set amount of content changes. It is not compulsory. Some clients prefer to manage the site themselves, and because you own everything, you are free to do that or to use another provider.

Can you redesign my existing website without losing rankings?

Yes. Before rebuilding we crawl your current site, record which pages earn traffic and links, and map every old URL to a new one with 301 redirects. We keep or improve the content on pages that already rank. After launch we watch Search Console for crawl errors and fix anything that comes up in the first weeks.

Do you work with businesses outside London?

Yes. We are based in London and work with clients across the UK. Discovery workshops, design reviews and training all run well over video calls, and many of our clients never need to meet in person. Local businesses outside London get the same local SEO set-up for their own towns and service areas.
