Website maintenance services keep your site secure, fast and working after launch: software updates, backups, monitoring, security scans and small content changes, handled every week by people who answer when something goes wrong. ProntX looks after business websites in London and across the UK on rolling monthly care plans from £79 a month, ex VAT.
What happens when nobody looks after a website
A website is not finished on launch day. The software it runs on, the plugins that add features, the server and the browsers people use all keep changing. Leave a site alone for a year and the usual result is a pile of skipped updates, a contact form that quietly stopped sending, an SSL certificate or domain that lapsed, and pages that load more slowly every month. Most owners only find out when a customer tells them, or when the site is already down.
What a maintenance and support service does instead
A good website maintenance company works through a fixed routine so problems are caught early: updates applied and checked, a fresh off-site backup every day, the site pinged every few minutes, security scanned daily and a short report each month showing what was done. On top of that you get a set amount of time each month for edits, and a named route for asking for help. You stop thinking about the website as a risk and start using it.

Why it matters
Why does website maintenance and support matter for a business?
Because the cost of an unmaintained site rarely shows up as a bill. It shows up as lost enquiries, a hacked homepage or a slow decline in search traffic that nobody connects back to the website.
Security
Attacks are routine, not rare
The UK government’s Cyber Security Breaches Survey 2025/2026 found that just over four in ten businesses reported a cyber security breach or attack in the previous 12 months. Out-of-date software is one of the easiest ways in, which is why updates and daily scans sit at the centre of every plan.
Downtime
An offline site loses work silently
If your site is down at 9pm on a Sunday, the people who tried to book or buy simply go elsewhere. Minute-by-minute monitoring means we know about an outage before your customers do, and the backup to restore from is never more than a day old.
Speed
Sites slow down over time
Every new plugin, image and tracking script adds weight. Without regular checks, a site that launched quickly can become sluggish on mobile. Our speed and Core Web Vitals tune-ups catch that drift and fix it before it costs you conversions.
Search
Google notices neglect
Broken pages, expired certificates and slow load times all count against you in search. Maintenance protects the foundations that our technical SEO work builds on, so you are not paying to rank a site that keeps falling over.
Plans and pricing
How much do website maintenance services cost in the UK?
ProntX care plans cost £79, £149 or £299 a month, ex VAT, on a rolling monthly basis with 30 days notice. Pay yearly and you get one month free.
For context, when we reviewed the published prices of 25 UK maintenance providers in October 2026, entry plans had a median of around £50 a month, mid-tier plans around £149 and top-tier plans around £330. London agencies sat noticeably higher, with entry prices commonly between £79 and £200. Our Essential Care plan is priced above the cheapest freelancer plans because it includes malware clean-up and edit time, which many entry plans charge for separately.

Straight answers
Do you really need a website maintenance company?
Not every site does. If yours is a simple page that never changes, careful automatic updates and a host backup may be enough. Once the site brings in leads or sales, paying someone to be accountable for it usually costs less than one bad week.
“Updates run automatically, so why pay?”
This is the most common objection on UK business forums, and it is a fair one. Automatic updates do apply patches. What they do not do is check that your booking form still works afterwards, notice that a plugin update clashed with your theme, or roll the site back when it did. You are paying for someone to look, test and fix, not for someone to press an update button.
“What does ‘minor changes’ actually mean?”
Vague promises cause most maintenance disputes. Our plans give you time, not a fuzzy list: 30 minutes, 2 hours or 4 hours a month. That covers text and image updates, new team members, adding a section or a landing page, plugin configuration and similar tasks. If a request will take longer than your allowance, we tell you before we start.
“Will they actually reply?”
Slow replies are the complaint we hear most from people switching provider. So our response times are written into each plan: next working day on Essential, same day on Growth with critical issues handled within 4 working hours, and critical issues within 2 hours on Partner, including evenings and weekends.
“What if I want to leave?”
Plans roll monthly with 30 days notice and no exit fee. You own your domain, hosting account, website files, content and data, and on request we hand over your latest backups and every login we hold. Nothing is locked to ProntX.
Each month
What happens during a typical month of website maintenance?
Most of the work is routine and invisible: scheduled checks run in the background and a person reviews the results. You hear from us when something needs a decision, and once a month in your report.
Daily
Backups and scans
An off-site backup is taken and a malware scan runs. Anything suspicious is investigated and cleaned up.
Constantly
Monitoring
Uptime is checked every 5 minutes or every minute, and on Growth and Partner your forms and checkout are watched too.
Weekly
Updates and checks
Updates are applied, tested on staging first on higher plans, and key pages are visually checked afterwards.
Monthly
Report and requests
You get a report of updates, backups, uptime and work done, and your edit time is used on whatever you send us.
We begin with a £149 health check covering updates, plugins, security, backups and speed, so we know exactly what we are taking on. If you then join a plan, the £149 is credited. Every website ProntX builds comes with 3 months of Essential Care free.
London and UK
Website maintenance in London and across the UK
ProntX is a London agency and maintains websites for businesses throughout the UK. Almost all maintenance happens remotely, so where you are makes no difference to the service you get.
For London businesses
London firms tend to run busier sites with more integrations: booking systems, CRMs, payment gateways and marketing tags that all need to keep talking to each other after every update. They also tend to pay London agency rates. Our plans give you a London team that knows the site and answers the phone on 020 3048 4022, at prices published on this page rather than hidden behind a sales call.
For the rest of the UK
Clients elsewhere get exactly the same plans, response times and reports. We work over email, phone, video calls and shared reports, with in-person meetings in London by arrangement. If your site was built by another agency or freelancer who is no longer around, we can take it over after a health check.
Planning a new site instead? Our web design and ecommerce web design projects all launch with three months of care included, so maintenance starts on day one.

FAQ
Website maintenance questions, answered
Still unsure? Ask us anything. We reply within one working day.
What do website maintenance services include?
A maintenance service keeps your site secure and working after launch. ProntX plans include weekly core, theme and plugin updates with a visual check, daily off-site backups, uptime monitoring, daily malware scans with clean-up, SSL and domain expiry checks, a monthly report and edit time each month. Growth and Partner add staging-tested updates, form and checkout monitoring, faster responses and regular speed work.
How much does website maintenance cost per month in the UK?
Published UK plans we reviewed in October 2026 mostly fell between £30 and £500 a month, with entry plans around £50, mid-tier around £149 and top-tier around £330. London agencies usually charge more. ProntX care plans are £79, £149 and £299 a month, ex VAT, rolling monthly with 30 days notice. See website support packages for a full comparison.
How often should a website be maintained?
Backups and security scans should run daily, uptime should be checked every few minutes, and software updates should be reviewed at least weekly, because plugin and theme patches are released constantly. Content, speed and broken links deserve a monthly or quarterly look. Leaving a site for months between updates is how most avoidable hacks and breakages happen.
Is website maintenance worth it for a small business?
If your site is a single page that never changes, you may manage with automatic updates and your host's backups. If it brings in enquiries, bookings or sales, a plan is usually worth it, because you are paying for someone to test updates, notice failures and restore the site quickly. A useful test is to compare the plan price with what a week of missed enquiries would cost you.
Can you maintain a website that another agency built?
Yes. We start with a £149 health check of updates, plugins, security, backups and speed, so we know what we are taking on and can flag anything urgent. If you join a care plan afterwards, the £149 is credited against it. Our plans are built around WordPress and WooCommerce sites.
What counts as a small edit in a maintenance plan?
We measure edits by time rather than a vague list. Essential includes 30 minutes a month, Growth 2 hours and Partner 4 hours. Typical tasks are text and image changes, adding a team member or a page section, updating opening hours, or configuring a plugin. If a request will take longer than your allowance, we quote it first at our plan-client rate of £65 an hour.
What happens to my website and backups if I cancel?
You keep everything. Plans roll monthly and need 30 days notice, with no exit fee. Your domain, hosting, website files, content and data belong to you, and on request we hand over the latest backups and any logins we hold so a new provider can take over without delay.
Do you offer website maintenance in London?
Yes. ProntX is based in London and maintains sites for London businesses and clients across the UK. Maintenance work is carried out remotely, so the plans, response times and reports are the same wherever you are, and you can reach the team by email or on 020 3048 4022.
